
Gardai have launched an appeal for witnesses after a cyclist was hospitalised with serious injuries following a crash in Co Tipperary.
The injured man, who is in his 40s, is seriously ill in hospital and gardai do not believe any driver, or any other road user, was involved in the crash.
Garda HQ issued a statement confirming some of the
details of the incident and urging any witnesses or anyone with footage to come
forward.
“Gardaí are investigating a serious single vehicle road
traffic collision involving a bicycle that occurred at approximately 3:20pm at Sarsfield
Street, Nenagh, Co Tipperary,” it said of the crash today, Wednesday.
“The cyclist, a man in his 40s, was taken to University
Hospital Limerick with serious injuries.
“The road is currently closed pending a technical
examination by Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.”
It added gardaí in Nenagh were appealing for any
witnesses to come forward. Gardaí are also appealing for any road users who may
have camera footage who were travelling on Sarsfield Street from 3pm to 3:20pm
to make this footage available to Gardaí.
