Garda launches appeal as cyclist hit by truck in Dublin

After five cyclist deaths so far this year another cyclist has been hit by a truck.
A cyclist is in serious condition in a Dublin hospital after he was hit by a truck in Dublin.
The collission occurred in the south of the city yesterday afternoon.
A Garda investigation is underway and gardai want to speak to anyone who witnessed. They are also keen to speak to anybody who was in the area at the time.
The collission follows the deaths of five cyclists on the roads of the Republic so far this year.
The death toll to date in 2017 compares to five cyclists killed in all of last year.
Gardai released a statement last night confirming the latest collission resulted in the victim being hospitalised.
“Gardaí at Terenure in Dublin are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision which occurred at the junction of Harold’s Cross Road-Grove Road at approximately 3.55pm today,” it said.
A male pedal cyclist was struck by a lorry at the above location. The cyclist was taken by ambulance to St James Hospital where his injuries are described as serious.
