The 12-year-old boy who gatecrashed the Tour of Britain breakaway - video here - in a heartwarming moment on yesterday's stage 7 has been given the full VIP treatment on today's final stage.

Both Jumbo Visma and the race organisers went out of their way to welcome Xander Graham at the stage start in Stonehaven. He was asked along as a VIP after he rode beside the winning breakaway yesterday in full kit.

He kept pace for long enough to be passed a bidon by one of the escapees - Jumbo Visma's Pascal Eenkhoorn - in what many people regarded as the best moment of this year's race.

Today Xander joined the team early in the day in Stonehaven and was presented with a Jumbo Visma jersey and other kit. He was also brought onto the team bus to meet all the riders and even joined them on stage for the team presentation before the final day's action got underway.

A couple of other riders from rival teams also got in on the act, with Mark Cavendish meeting Xander for a chat before the racing started. The action was captured in the videos and photos below.
