Sinead Lynch drives on the front of the Irish women's team pursuit line-up. She made the Olympic rowing final last Friday week and has now won a half marathon in Donegal; incredible going.
Having switched from rowing to cycling in a bid to make the London Olympics as part of the team pursuit line-up on the track four years ago, Sinead Lynch was back in a boat in Rio in recent weeks.
She went back to rowing after the failed cycling bid for London and qualified for Rio with partner Claire Lamb.
They made the lightweight women’s double sculls Olympic final in Rio last Friday week.
It was a massive achievement tinged with disappointment when they finished in 6th place in their final.
The 39-year-old had hoped to take a medal with Lamb.

Instead, it was the O’Donovan brothers who took the spotlight with their silver on the same day of competition.
But while most mere mortals would have gone on the rip for at least a week – or certainly put their feet up and had a good long sleep - after getting home from Rio, Lynch was having none of it.
She has already been in competition again – and not even in rowing.
Showing just how versatile she is, the doctor from Donegal ran the Donegal Half Marathon today and won it in a time of 1hr 23mins 40secs.
Her victory is incredible when one thinks of the physical impact her Olympic campaign, not to mention the long journey home since then, must have had on her.
Lynch’s husband Sam Lynch – with whom she has three children – rowed for Ireland in the 1996 and 2004 Olympics and her sister Catriona Jennings ran the marathon for Ireland at the 2012 Games in London.
No pressure on the kids so!
