Former Junior Tour winner weighs in with €1,100 prize to help save race

With just one week remaining to a major sportive being held to help secure the future of the Junior Tour, the man who won the race back in 1994 and a well known bike shop have weighed in with a €1,100 prize for the event.

A Focus Culebro 3 has been put forward as a prize by former international Aidan Duff and the BikeWorx shop in Celbridge owned by Ciaran Kelly.

Duff, who rode for St Tiernan’s and Bray Wheelers in Ireland before basing himself in France for a number of seasons, is the representative in Ireland for Focus Bikes.

Everyone who pre-enters next weekend’s Junior Tour Trust Sportive, starting and finishing at Casement Aerodrome, Baldonnel, west Co Dublin, will be entered in the draw.

Next weekend’s event sees two routes open those who enter; a 112km cycle and a more gentle 57km trek.

Further events will take place in Bellaghy, Co Derry, on Saturday, 7th February, and Whitegate, Co Clare, on Saturday, 28th February.
