Former Dectek squad Dunboyne CC to be sponsored by DID Electrical

Dunboyne CC sponsored by DID Electrical

The former Dectek-backed Dunboyne CC has announced it has lined up retailer DID Electrical as its title sponsor for the coming season.

Cycleways will remain as a secondary sponsor, with the company’s co-owner and well known cycling figure Philip Cassidy continuing his long association with the club.

The Meath-based outfit has just revealed its new look; a mainly dark blue jersey with white panelling on the shoulders and along the sides, with the Specialized branding like last year’s Dectek jersey.

In a statement about the new deal, the club said it was delighted to have found a new financial backer.

“Dunboyne CC is delighted to announce DID Electrical are its new principal sponsor for 2012 and beyond. Together with the ongoing commitment from Cycleways, Dunboyne CC will continue to contest national races across all categories.”

“So, we’re changing colours next year; we’re back in blue. Our ambitions looking forward are as strong as ever. Winter training is well underway. Roll on March and the start of the 2012 racing season.”

The club has been one of the most successful in recent years and has tended to operate almost like a mini trade team.

Last season its riders formed two teams in the An Post Ras, won the team prize in the national elite road race championships and took victory in the national hill climb championships with Mark Dowling.

It also regularly won domestic races last season while one of its strongest riders, Stephen O’Sullivan, took bronze in the national criterium championships.

The team has been backed in the past at different times by Cycleways and myhome.ie.

Dectek, a technology and support company owned by businessman Declan Keogh, became involved at the beginning of last season but ended its backing at the end of the season.

Keogh has since become involved in the cycling clothing and equipment sector through his recent investment in Ultimate Sports and Ultimate Clothing, which is now providing the clothing to the An Post-Sean Kelly team.
