He has departed Wiggle-ChainReaction to make a move closer to the domestic scene, including taking on a new job at Cycling Ireland.
Recently departed from Wiggle-ChainReaction, Damien Duggan has taken on a new role in Cycling Ireland.
The former head of international marketing of the online bike retail giant has become the new chair of Cycling Ireland’s off-road commission.
He has also recently switched jobs and now working for Irish custom bike clothing company Spin11.com so is stepping closer to the domestic cycling world in both roles.
When the off road commission held its annual meeting last month there were no nominations for the vacant chair position and Duggan has since stepped into it.
He has a very interesting background and one that can undoubtedly be applied to progress all of the off-road disciplines.
Has competed in MTB cross-country, downhill, enduro, and cyclocross both in Ireland and abroad.
“Having great commercial experience within marketing and business development, as well as team management, Damien is focused on building on the work the commission has achieved to date and is keen to support the volunteers in their various roles,” Cycling Ireland said in a statement announcing the news.
Before making a career in the cycling game, Duggan rode as a professional jockey.
Meanwhile, Wiggle-ChainReaction has announced the appointed of a new chief executive to replace departing Stefan Barden.
Will Kernan, who has been chief executive of The White Company – the clothing and home wares retailer – for the past five years takes over from Barden.
Wiggle chairman Brian McBride said Kernan brought “substantial retail experience and an understanding of strong consumer brands” to the company, which has recently moved hundreds of jobs from ChainReaction’s Irish base to Wiggle’s British base.
“His track record of growth at The White Company along with his leadership of large-scale businesses will be especially relevant during this next phase of the WiggleCRC growth strategy,” McBride added of Kernan.
