A couple hours before the 12 noon planned start it became clear the flooding on the course would make racing possible.

As well as the main event, won by Paid O'Brien (Osbourne Meats-McCarthy Cycles) last year, five other races were also due to unfold over what has always been a great promotion by Fermoy CC.

There were plans for separate A3 and A4 races as well as three youth events; for U16s, U14s and U12s.

The club confirmed the cancellation on its Facebook page this morning, saying:

"Unfortunately a last minute decision had to be made to cancel today's race due to road flooding on the race circuit. Sorry for the inconvenience."
