You'd have to feel very sorry for Fabio Felline with facial injuries like this. But he is staying positive and is determined to get back to racing soon. We wish him well.
Having smashed into the road face first in the neutralised section of Amstel Gold last weekend, Italian rider Fabio Felline fractured his skull, broke his nose and suffered cuts and bruises to his face.
The Trek-Segafredo man has revealed the extent of his injuries in a Facebook post that included the photo above.

He might be in bits but he’s giving everyone the thumbs up to thank them for their support and he also seems to be putting his best side out and staying positive.
In a message addresses to his fans he said he had been hoping to given an update about some good results but found himself offering reassurance about his condition instead.
“This time I took just a dent,” he says of the mishap that saw his hand become stuck in his front wheel when he went to tweak something at the front of his bike and was thrown over the bars smashing into the ground as a result.

Fabio Felline (Trek-Segafredo) reached towards his front wheel in the neutralised zone of Amstel Gold. You can see his hand caught between his spokes and the inside of his fork in this photo.
He says while he is not going through an easy time but he and the medical staff are positive about his outlook. And he is hopeful of being back on the bike “in the not too distant future”.
He added it may take three months – “maybe more, maybe less” – to heal properly but that healing up properly was the priority.
“I underwent an MRI that confirmed the fracture of the occipital condyle (base of the skull) and triple fracture of the nasal septum.
“To tell the truth even a finger is broken but has taken a back seat,” he said.
He sent “hugs to everybody” that had made his recovery process and comeback seem like a “less steep climb”.
