Feeley wins Cycling Ireland A1 rankings, with 77 riders scoring points

Daire Feeley has topped the end of season Cycling Ireland A1 rankings by a very significant margin, with a prolific run once racing resumed after the Covid-19 lock-down imposed back in March.

The Strata 3-VeloRevolution rider enjoyed a very strong season in Europe last year with Irish Continental team EvoPro Racing before returning back to Ireland for this season.

He got his campaign off to a strong start with 2nd place at the Mick Lally Memorial followed by victory at the Seamus Kennedy Memorial the next day back in March.

Based on that opening weekend's form it looked like Feeley was in ominous form for the season ahead and was due for some big results.

However, the Covid-19 pandemic then intervened and riders across the country had a lengthy delay before racing resumed in the summer. Feeley (23) still won nine races despite so much of the domestic campaign being wiped out.

As well as the Seamus Kennedy he also won the Athenry GP, Peter Bidwell Memorial, Galway Open Champs, Leinster Autumn Classic, Connacht Road Championships, Denis Kennedy Road Race, Bobby Power Memorial and Rás Cill Mocheallog.
