Daire Feeley (All human-VeloRevolution) has ended the 2023 domestic scene as the top-ranked A1 rider in the Cycling Ireland rankings. The Roscommon rider recently told stickybottle he planned to redouble his efforts over the winter after several wins slipped away from him this season.
However, the 2022 Rás Tailteann winner still have a very successful season this year, with six wins. His frustration at the end of this season stemmed from the ones that got away; the 26-year-old 2nd or 3rd in races no fewer than twelve times.
His wins and placings through the season contributed to a points tally of 207, which was still far ahead of the next man in the end of season rankings. Feely won the Seamus Kennedy Memorial, Life Credit Union Newbridge GP, Donal Crowley Memorial, Sean Stagg Shield, Brendan & Kitty Campbell Memorial and Mullingar GP.

Conn McDunphy (Lucan CRC) placed 2nd, on 145 points, with Luke Smith (Moynalty CC) 3rd on 143 points. Then came Masters 40 rider Paul Kennedy (Burren CC) on 134 points and Lindsay Watson (Powerhouse Sport) on 131 points, with Gareth O'Neill (PB Performance) rounding out the top six on 115 points.

As well as placing 2nd in the A1 Cycling Ireland rankings, McDunphy also won the Cycling Ireland National Road Series this year. He claimed no fewer than nine wins this year - a great tally, especially for a rider not renowned as a sprinter.
McDunphy's wins included: Bobby Power Memorial, Shay Elliott Memorial, Sean Nolan Meath Grand Prix, John Drumm Cup, Stephen Roche GP, Sliabh Luachra Classic, two rounds of the Mondello Series at the National Hill Climb Championships.
Smith's points total, for 3rd overall, was boosted by five wins through the season. They included the Boyne GP, Kells Criterium, Brian McNamara Tuam Grand Prix, Tommy Brady Memorial and Lucan GP.
A total of 107 riders scored points though the season, with a total of 193 riders competing as A1s this year. That means 86 riders either raced the full season as an A1 this season but won by points or were upgraded to the category during the campaign, but did not score points after their upgrade.
