A father and his young son were given a serious scare yesterday after this overtaking move by a Dublin Bus driver, recorded via a mounted camera on one of their bikes.
Twitter user @AlanDub13 posted the clip yesterday after he had gone cycling with his son around their regular roads in north Dublin. As they approached a red car parked by the roadside they prepared to move out a little to the right as that car was parked with two wheels on the footpath and two on the cycle lane marked on the road.
However, a bus approaching from behind caught up with them and the driver overtook ‘Alan D’ and his son. The driver left little, if any, room for error as the video below reveals.
One wonders why the driver didn't wait a few seconds and leave more space when overtaking 'Alan D' and his son. They soon caught the bus when the driver pulled in just up the road at a bus stop, confirming the bus was in service and the driver was obliged to continue stopping for passengers.
