Fancy working paid or as volunteer with Irish cycling teams abroad?

Cycling Ireland has called for people interested in working for the federation, in paid or voluntary positions, to express their interest now for future opportunities.

A whole host of roles are filled by volunteers, paid contractors or "day rate" workers, some of whom work as support staff for Irish teams at home and abroad. Other roles include coaches, team managers, team selectors, board members, committee members and mechanics, among others.

Cycling Ireland says while it has always relied on a group of volunteers, freelance or day-rate personnel, it is often not clear to its members, or the wider cycling community, how these roles are filled.

And so in the interests of transparency, and finding new talent or personnel, the federation is now throwing open the process for anyone to express an interest, by completing the form at this link.

"More recently, a combination of paid staff, day rate/part-time contractors and volunteers have worked in unison to maximise what can be achieved by a small island in cycling circles on the European and world stage," Cycling Ireland said in a statement.

"Though this has evolved across the federation, its provinces and commissions, it is often not clear to the wider membership community how those particularly in the part-time/day rate and volunteer roles are selected, engaged and remunerated/compensated. A common query is: how do I get involved?"

Cycling Ireland stressed that expressions of interest were being invited now for part-time contractors, day-rate contractors and volunteers only. It said all permanent and full-time staff roles within Cycling Ireland are filled after a, completely separate, human resources or recruitment process.

When completing the expression of interest form, applicants are asked to set out the experience or skills they possess and which may be of use to Cycling Ireland on the home scene or abroad.

It added the expressions of interest were being sought for roles and jobs across all forms of cycling; BMX, cyclocross, MTB XC, road, track and paracycling. And while working for Irish teams at home and abroad is part of the scheme, many other roles also must be filled.
