Anyone looking for a change of scene and hoping to combine their career with their passion for sport may be interested in a very decent looking job on offer at Triathlon Ireland.

The national governing body is seeking a new head of marketing and communications as it goes into Olympic year.

The position, which brings with it a salary of up to €40,000, involves developing commercial partnerships as well as the association’s communications strategy and the marketing of its major events and membership offerings.

The successful candidate will be charged with developing working relationships with journalists – including those producing video and photographic content.

They would also work closely with clubs as well as funding and commercial partners, not to mention association members and also triathletes in the high performance squad.

While the post would be a busy and challenging one, especially as triathlon is growing so quickly in Ireland, the foreign travel opportunities related to the Olympics in Brazil and during the build-up are obvious.

The successful candidate would be based at Triathlon Ireland’s headquarters in Kilmacanogue, Co Wicklow.

Between 2005 and 2015, the organisation’s membership has grown from 800 to 10,500. There are also now 85 affiliated clubs and 200 sanctioned events were held in 2015.

The governing body said of salary and bonuses:

“Remuneration will depend on qualifications and demonstrable knowledge and experience, and will be made up of a basic salary plus performance related bonus, together with allowable expenses.

“On target earnings will be in the pay grade range of TI-3 (€30,000-35,000) or TI-4 (€35,000-40,000)."
