Extra road races just added to Irish calendar for the weeks ahead

Kinning Cycles is behind the Nutts Corner Open Road Races which have been added to the domestic scene and will run for all categories on the four Tuesdays in August

A number of extra road races have been added to the Irish calendar for the weeks ahead, both sides of the Border.

There is also confirmation that the Danny O’Shea Memorial
TT, which is organised by Sorrento Cycling Club, will take place in Co Wicklow
this Saturday.

In the North, Kinning Cycles – which is owned by top
domestic rider Glenn Kinning – is backing a series of four new road races to be
held in August.

The Nutts Corner Open Road Races will be run for the next
four Tuesdays; August 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th. Furthermore, there will be a
full schedule of racing each Tuesday evening for all categories.

The format and times are the same for all four dates; U8 & U10 events at 6pm, U12 & U14 at 6.15pm, U16-Women-A4 at 6.45pm and the A1-A2-A3 race on at 7.30pm.

The races will be pre-entry only, with no sign-on allowed
on the night. Numbers are limited for each race.

No prizes will be presented for each round, with prizes
instead for the overall – entry fees are £12 for seniors and £3 for youth
riders.

As well as the four new Nutts Corner Open Road Races, which are a welcome and timely addition to the domestic scene, Usher Irish Road Club is also running an extra round of the Mondello Series in Co Kildare.

Originally it was intended that no race would take place
next Tuesday, immediately after the Bank Holiday Weekend. However, another
round has now been penciled in meaning riders will be out in force again for
the Mondello Series next Tuesday night, August 4th.

Finally, despite some confusion about whether the Danny O’Shea
TT was going ahead this coming weekend, Sorrento Cycling Club tells stickybottle
the event is definitely on.

The start on Saturday from Jack Whites Pub near Brittas
Bay remains unchanged, with the course run on well surfaced and open roads on a
circuit heading north towards Wicklow (Beehive Roundabout) on the old N11.

An online entry facility is available on sorrentocyclingclub.com or with Eventmaster.ie.
