Conor Dunne has been given the nod by his Israel Cycling Academy team to ride what will be his biggest and toughest race of 2019 so far; the seven-stage Tirreno-Adriatico in Italy next week.
Conor Dunne is set to ride Tirreno-Adriatico in Italy next week after his Israel Cycling Academy team named him in its starting line-up.
The race, which is on the WorldTour calendar, will be the longest and toughest event the Irish champion has done so far this year.
He is in a line-up that also includes Belgians Tom Can Asbroeck and Ben Hermans, Italian Davide Cimolai, Latvian Krists Neilands, Canadian Alex Cataford and Matthias Brändle from Austria.
Conor Dunne was 11th in the Vuelta a San Juan TT stage in Argentina in January before being forced out of that race with illness.
He then took 6th overall in the four-stage Tour of Antalya in Turkey. Last weekend he rode Kuurne-Bruxelles-Kuurne, where he was a non-finisher. And on Tuesday he was 77th in Le Samyn.
The seven-stage Tirreno-Adriatico gets underway next Wednesday. It features a TTT to open and an individual TT on the final stage.
In between there are five undulating stages, with two uphill finishes. However, all of the climbs are short and sharp, with longer, higher, climbing missing from the route this year.
Daire Feeley is just one of the Irish riders back in action in come days with new Irish ProContinental team EvoPro Racing.
After a very successful start to the year in New Zealand and Australia as well as riding Challenge Mallorca, EvoPro Racing are back in action this weekend.
The Irish ProContinental team will line out in Grote prijs Jean-Pierre Monseré (1.1) in Belgium on Sunday.
Included in the selection are Irish riders Daire Feeley and Cormac Mcgeough. Both competed in all four Challenge Mallorca races, with Feeley one of only six riders to finish all of the events.
They line out on Sunday alongside Kiwis Shane Archbold and Aaron Gate along with Dutchman Wouter Wippert, Italian Eugert Zhupa and Australian Harry Sweeny.
The 201.7km race from Aalter to Roeselare features WorldTour team Lotto-Soudal as well as many of the top ProContinental teams in the world.
Some of those include Cofidis, Sport Vlaanderen-Balois, Direct Energie, Androni Giocattoli-Sidermec, Roompot-Charles and Vital Concept-B&B Hotels.
