Ever wonder what results you need to qualify for Irish Sports Council funding?

Here at stickybottle we have a policy of not being lazy and publishing press releases, commercial bumph or anything that resembles somebody else’s self-promotional content.

But the Irish Sports Council criteria for funding is so specific and detailed we didn’t think putting our own twist on it would be helpful.

SPORT: CYCLING-Road Cycling
Category: International Carding Scheme Criteria for 2012
Podium
  • Medallist in the World Championships
  • Medallist in the Olympic Games
  • 1-3 Overall in any European World Tour event or Major Tours (Giro Femine or La Route de France for women) See events listed under Races at http://www.uciworldtour.com
  • 1-3 Points or KOH competition in one of the Grand Tours (Giro Femine or La Route de France for women)
World Class
  • 4-12 in the World Championships
  • 4-12 in the Olympic Games
  • 1-10 Overall in any European World Tour event (and women's equivalent of World Tour)
International
  • 13-30 in the World Championships
  • 13-30 in the Olympic Games
  • 1-5 in the World U23 Championships
  • 1-3 in the European U23 Championships
  • 11-20 overall in any European World Tour event (Giro Feminine and La Route de France for women)
  • 1-5 in a UCI 1.HC or 2.HC event
  • 1-5 on final GC in a European UCI 2.1/1.1 event
  • 1-3 on final GC in a non European UCI 2.1/1.1 event
NOTES:
Once an athlete has been on the Carding Scheme for 5 years, their application will be reviewed on an annual basis. All athletes must continue to show improvement to remain of the Carding Scheme.
Performance Incentive Payment Criteria for Road Cycling
Podium Medal in World or Olympic Games, podium place at a monument event
World Class Win in a UCI 1.HC or 2.HC event (GC)
International Winner of UCI 2.1 or 1.1 event (GC)
Developmental Developmental – Winner in a UCI 2.2 or 1.2 event (GC)
NOTES:
Athletes can only qualify for a PIP payment based on their original qualification for inclusion on the Carding scheme

Category: International Carding Scheme Criteria for 2012
Podium
  • Medallist in the World Championships
  • Medallist in the Olympic Games
  • 1-3 in the individual TT of a Grand Tour – excluding prologues. (Giro Feminine and La Route de France for women - excluding prologues)
World Class
  • 4-9 in the World Championships
  • 4-9 in the Olympic Games
  • 4-9 in the individual TT of a Grand Tour – excluding prologues. (Giro Feminine and La Route de France for women - excluding prologues)
  • 1-3 in a World Cup Track event
  • 1-3 in Senior European Championships Track event (Individual events only)
International
  • 10-15 in the World Championships(TT)
  • 10-15 in the Olympic Games (TT)
  • 1-3 in U23 World Championship
  • 10-15 in the individual TT of a Grand Tour – excluding prologues. (Giro Feminine and La Route de France for women - excluding prologues)
  • 4-9 in a World Cup Track event (Individual events only)
  • 4-9 in Senior European Championships Track event (Individual events only)
  • Men's 4,000 metre individual pursuit below 4:25 in a UCI event or National Championship
  • Women's 3,000 metre individual pursuit below 3.37 in a UCI event or National Championship
  • 4,000 metre team pursuit below 4:07 in a UCI event or National Championship
  • 3,000m women's team pursuit below 3:33 in a UCI event or National Championship
  • Men's 200 metre flying start below 10.60 in a UCI event or National Championship
  • Women's 200 metre flying start below 11.80 seconds in a UCI event or National Championship
NOTES:
All track times to be achieved under competition conditions.
Squad funding is based on being a member of a team that achieves the agree criteria above, for a specific event. ISC will allocate up to 8 Cards for the Men's team and up to 6 Cards to the Women's team. To continue to receive funding, athletes must remain part of the relevant team.

SPORT: PARALYMPIC CYCLING
Category: International Carding Scheme Criteria for 2012
Contracted
  • Medallist in the Paralympic Games or UCI World Cycling Championships in Paralympic disciplines and events
  • Number 1 in the end of year UCI World Ranking List in Paralympic disciplines and events (must be at least 15 athletes ranked)
World Class
  • Placed 4th-6th in the Paralympic Games or UCI World Cycling Championships in Paralympic disciplines and events and within 3% of the bronze medal mark achieved at that event
  • Top 3 overall in a Paracycling World Cup series (minimum field size of 8 competitors in each race)
  • Nos. 2-4 in the end of year UCI World Ranking List in Paralympic disciplines and events (must be at least 15 athletes ranked)
International
  • Placed 7th-12th in the Paralympic Games or UCI World Cycling Championships in Paralympic disciplines and events and within 6% of the bronze medal mark achieved at that event
  • Selection for the Paralympic Games
  • Medallist in the UCI Paracycling World Cup or UCI P1 Category Cycling Championships in Paralympic disciplines and events with a field size of at least 8 competitors.
  • Nos. 4-10 in the end of year UCI World Rankings in Paralympic disciplines and events and in the top 50% of the ranking list (must be at least 15 athletes ranked)
Tandem Pilot Position
Tandem Pilot position to receive the equivalent level of carding that applies to the Visually Impaired athlete for which they have been selected to pilot.
Performance Incentive Payment Criteria for Paralympic Cycling
Contracted Medal in World Championships or Paralympic Games
World Class Winner of a UCI P1 or World Cup event.
International Silver Medal at a UCI P1 or a World Cup event
Developmental Bronze Medal in a UCI P1 or World Cup event
