Eoin McCarthy will join Osborne Meats-McCarthy Cycles for 2016 having decided to step away from An Post-Chainreaction.
The former Irish U23 international told stickybottle earlier this month that he no longer felt professional cycling was something he wanted to pursue.
And he has since taken up full-time education in Cork.
He still plans to race next year but will do so at home and alongside him in his new team will be multiple Kerry Group Rás Mumhan stage winner Páidí O’Brien.
The latter will be a very useful man for McCarthy to have around as he also rode for An Post on the Continent before returning home four years ago.
Since then he has enjoyed fantastic results, proving one of the most prolific winners in Ireland; a record McCarthy would love to emulate.
They will be joined by others on the team including Michael Crowley, Leonard O'Keeffe and Martin Cashman.
McCarthy’s addition will be a big boost to the team, who were noticeably thin on the ground this year in the biggest races.
Though O’Brien won three stages of the aforementioned Rás Mumhan, many felt he could have won the race outright had he more teammates on the penultimate day when he lost the yellow jersey to Sean McKenna.
