Entries have now opened for the National Hill Climb Championships, with the last road title of the year to be settled in Co Wicklow on Saturday week, October 6th.

The title will be decided on the 10km climb of Turlough Hill, which is ascended from Glendalough.

With a gradient of 5.2 per cent, it is a well known climb with the first segment used in the Rás. It is also climbed during the Wicklow 200, one of the oldest and most popular sportives in the country.

There is a challenge mass start event on the climb on the morning of the race. You can sign on for that from 9am to 9.45am, with that event due to start at 10am.

The championship race is online pre-entry only, with the first rider off due to start at 10.45am.

The championship TT is for Cycling Ireland members with a racing licence; A+, A1, A2, A3 and A4. Only A+, A1, A2 and A3 riders are eligible to win the title.

Fastest three riders (A+, A1, A2, A3) will be awarded gold, silver and bronze medals. There will be prizes for the three fastest senior, vet, junior and female riders.
