It's been a huge success so far and now the Wild Atlantic Way Cycle Sportif is headed for its final few days; in Donegal. There's a few spots left and you still have time to become part of what should be a celebratory finale after 17 stages.
Not too late to enter Wild Atlantic Way Sporfit
Having already proven a huge success for the past two weeks, the Wild Atlantic Way Sportif is about to hit beautiful Donegal.
And the organisers still have some places left for anyone who wants to ride between one and four of the stages in Dhun na nGall.
For anyone with a day or two spare and who wants to see a bit of the country, some really spectacular scenery is in store.
With the seasons changing, the event has been blessed with mostly fine weather under blue skies.
And they are hoping for the same as everyone already on the 17-day event gets ready for the big finale in Donegal. If you're interested check out the following link.
Next Tuesday, September 26th, the riders travel from Donegal town to a Glengesh Pass finish after 86km in the saddle.
The following day, Wednesday, the route is 104km; from Ardara to Falcarragh.
And next Thursday 110km are in store for the sportif cyclists on the road from Dunfanaghy to Ramelton.
This day week – Friday, September 29th – the event concludes with what should prove to be a celebratory run starting and finishing in Muff via Malin Head.
How the Wild Atlantic Way Sportif works
The format is very simple, with the event run on a course of just over 2,000km up the Wild Atlantic Way from Cork to Donegal broken down into 17 stages.
Each day of cycling ranges from 86km to 162km in length. The 17 stages combined totals 2,058km.
And those cyclists taking part can sign up for any number of stages – from one single day’s cycling to all 17 stages.
Organisers Ride Wild are providing all of the necessary logistical support for participating cyclists. Entry to the multi-day events will include accommodation, meals and official cycling kit.
The kit includes a cycling jersey and shower jacket.
Also provided to participating cyclists is a kit laundry service and bag transfers as well as paramedic and mechanical support. The costs for these services will be included in cyclists’ registration fee.
A single day entry costs €45. Multi day stages including overnight stay costs €90. The support services are included in the prices.
