The Emerald Fund has announced it will support three Irish cyclists in the season ahead.
While racing is currently suspended at home and abroad
due to the Covid19 crisis, it is likely it will resume at some point.
And when it does the Emerald Fund will support Ben Walsh
(EvoPro Racing), Adam Stenson (UC Monaco) and Marc Heaney (Asfra Racing Team).
“We're delighted to able to support both Ben and Adam for
a third year and we're equally delighted to welcome Marc onto the roster for
2020,” the Emerald Fund said in a statement.
“None of the above would be possible without the continued support of Quanta Capital.

“This is the third year that they have support us and we
are so grateful for this. A huge thank you to Mel Sutcliffe and all his Quanta
team
“All three riders will be supported financially
throughout the year and will be assisted with kit requirements thanks to the
continued support of Fizik.”
The Emerald Fund was established five years ago by Garda
CC member Dave O’Connell. It aims to offer financial support to developing
riders.
In time it hopes to fill the same role in Irish cycling
as the Dave Rayner Fund has so successfully done in Britain for many years.
The fund was late last year opened to riders racing on
the road at U23 level in 2020 and who are racing abroad.
However, riders who were in the Emerald Fund roster in
2019 and who now age out of the U23 category were also eligible to apply.
Road racing cyclists must be based outside Ireland to be eligible and preference was given to those who already have a team and accommodation in place.
