Women’s race forced to stop at National Champs
The elite women’s event at the National Road Race Championships in Co Wexford has been forced to stop on the last lap.
The combined elite and U23 men’s race was run on the near 20km course at the same time.
And when the men caught the women’s cavalcade and bunch, the women were pulled in to let them past.

Women's update: ladies race back together. Had to be pulled over so men's race could pass #roadchamps17

At the time of writing they had restarted. The field was down to 20 riders starting the last lap, with a great contest in the offing over that last lap.
However, stopping the race will have effected that greatly and was a very unfortunate event, especially at a national championships.
Both races were still underway at the time of writing; more to come.
