Egan Bernal is headed back to his Colombian homeland for
what will no doubt be a hero’s welcome.
The 22-year-old is the first Colombian to win the Tour de
France. That he has made the breakthrough so young has severed to increase the
hysteria around him.
We can except to see incredible scenes in coming days when
he gets back among his own people on home turf.
The young Team Ineos man, however, looked like a slightly reluctant
hero when he was the toast of first class as he flew home.

The crew on the plane carrying him were determined to
announce his presence to all of those on board, even if that meant waking up
everyone in first class, Bernal included.
While he looked very sheepish, he did his best to take the
adulation on the chin as the passengers around him reacted with a combination
of excitement and confusion…
