Eddie Dunbar sums up the cycling knowledge of one Irish taxi driver

Eddie Dunbar might be one of the most talked about young Irish riders at present but he was greeted with confusion by one Irish taxi driver on his arrival home.

Cycling might be booming in Ireland at the moment with record numbers in the saddle, but it’s still a complete mystery to some.

And that was certainly the case for the taxi driver who met promising young Irish rider Eddie Dunbar when he arrived back into Dublin this week.

He had his bike box in tow after a couple of weeks training in Spain.

Earlier, Dunbar posted this message on Twitter summing up the driver's reaction to seeing the bike bag.

The move to the US is an excellent opportunity for Dunbar.

He resisted the temptation of throwing himself in at the deep end of European racing in 2015 when he opted to sign for UK-based NFTO Pro Cycling instead.

He rode very well for that squad and in the Nations Cup, European Championships and World Championships when competing for Ireland, Dunbar rode aggressively and strongly in the breakaways.

Those performances, coupled with the ability he already showed as a junior, see him move to a US scene with a team that will ride key races like the US Pro Challenge, Tour of Alberta, Tour of the Gila and a whole host of European one-day events and stage races.
