Eddie Dunbar in stacked Ineos Grenadiers team for Flèche Wallonne

Eddie Dunbar is named in an Ineos Grenadiers team for La Flèche Wallonne featuring several riders who will go to the start line among the favourites

Eddie Dunbar has been named in an incredibly strong Ineos Grenadiers team for La Flèche Wallonne tomorrow; the selection packed with several potential winners.

The Irishman was active off the front of Amstel Gold with
about 60km to go on Sunday; making a number of moves in the period just before
the racing really erupted.

The 24-year-old joined some attacks at that point to
ensure Ineos Grenadiers was represented and to avoid being forced to chase
before the vital final 20-30km.

In the end it was Tom Pidcock who proved best for the team; putting in an incredible finale to get clear with Wout Van Aert (Jumbo Visma) and Max Schachmann (Bora-hansgrohe).

Pidcock was beaten for the victory by the tiniest of margins by Van Aert. Schachmann was just behind them in 3rd place, with the leading trio two seconds ahead of a chasing group.

After his earlier efforts Eddie Dunbar paid the price and
eventually finished in 109th in a large group just over six minutes down.

For tomorrow’s race, which is the second of the three
Ardennes Classics, Dunbar is once again named in a team featuring Pidcock, who
will be chasing victory.

Several other riders from Sunday’s team will also ride
tomorrow including Luke Rowe, Richard Carapaz and Michał Kwiatkowski.

While Michał Gołaś and Dylan van Baarle rode Amstel Gold,
they are replaced for La Flèche Wallonne by Adam Yates and Giro champion Tao
Geoghegan Hart.

Pidcock, Yates and Carapaz look like the strongest in the
selection for what will likely become the usual sprint to the finish line up the
brutally steep Mur de Huy after 194km of racing.

The climbs on the course, including the finish ramp, are
ones that could suit Dunbar. However, given the form this year of Pidcock and
Yates, it is hard to look past that duo as the mostly likely riders in the team
to make a big impact.
