Eddie Dunbar of Team Ineos was up the road but suffered a puncture on stage 13 of the Giro d'Italia yesterday.
Eddie Dunbar was hit by a puncture on the final long climb to the finish at Giro d'Italia yesterday.
The Irish rider was in the breakaway again having taken 3rd from a large escape group 24 hours earlier.
Dunbar survived in the escape yesterday on the climb up to the finish for a long time as it whittled right down.
But he was hit by a puncture and eventually contributed to his team mate Pavel Sivakov's ride.
Another Team Ineos young gun, Ivan Sosa, aided Sivakov on the early part of the climb.
And when Dunbar came back from having been up the road, he also turned his attentions to helping the young Russian.

In the end Sivakov took the young rider classification jersey, having stayed with Primoz Roglic (Jumbo Visma) and Vincenzo Nibali (Bahrain Merida) until deep into the final kilometre.
Tao Geoghegan Hart crashed and had to abandon the race. The Team Ineos man fell off, for the third time on this Giro, while in the break with Dunbar and suffered a fracture of his right clavicle

However, Team Ineos directeur Nicolas Portal said it was a great day for the riders who are now the future of the team.
“It’s a fantastic day for the group. We had Eddie in the
break which was not part of the initial plan,” Portal said after the high
mountains of stage 13.
“But it was fantastic for us, a great position for him
where he just had to follow the guys in the break.
“At the bottom of the last climb we had four riders and
the oldest one was 25 years old, Sebastian Henao.
“So you just have to take a look at our situation and say
‘wow’. It’s pretty encouraging for the future. Pavel was in the front with
Nibali and Roglic and keeping his own pace.
“Chapeau to Ivan Sosa too who helped Pavel to come back
into contention after he was dropped by Nibali and Roglic in the early stages
of the final climb.
“As a team we’re really proud of them. I think it will
bring the group even closer together as we go forwards.
“It’s a shame to lose Tao and for sure it will affect the
group. I’m sure he’ll be back on the bike soon."
