Eddie Dunbar is getting ideal preparation for the Worlds with Team Sky. He's back in action again tomorrow.
Having already raced twice last weekend with his new employers, Eddie Dunbar is back in action tomorrow for Team Sky.
The 22-year-old will line out for his WorldTour team in Giro della Toscana-Memorial Alfredo Martini (1.1).
At 199km, the race is run mainly on three laps of a circuit passing through the finish area in Pontedera.
And the short sharp climb of Monte Serra is tackled each time; a ramp that should suit Dunbar.
The final passage of the climb comes about 30km from the finish. It may be instrumental in deciding who is still in contention for the finale.
Dunbar will be in a Team Sky line-up tomorrow that includes stagiaires Mark Donovan and Ethan Hayter; both from Britain and both aged 19 years.
Also riding is Gianni Moscon, Diego Rosa, Sebastian Henao and Kenney Elissonde.
Moscon led the team on Saturday at the 200km Coppa Agostoni and won the race. Michal Golas and Eddie Dunbar hit the front on the climbs to help Moscon get clear.
Eddi Dunbar also rode the 195km Coppa Bernocchi (1.1) in Legnano on Sunday, when he joined some of the attacks.
The team has praised his efforts so far. And with Dunbar now riding these Italian classics, he is getting some quality racing under his belt ahead of the Worlds in Innsbruck.
The course in Austria is a very hilly one and Dunbar will go into the U23 road race and one of the favourites.
