Eddie Dunbar abandons debut Tour de France after crash

Eddie Dunbar is out of the Tour de France after his crash in the final of yesterday's stage 7

Eddie Dunbar (Team Jayco AlUla) has been forced to abandon his debut Tour de France after his crash towards the end of stage 7 yesterday. That incident, at speed, came just 24 hours after he made the breakaway on stage 6 and finished 4th.

The Irishman, who won two stages at La Vuelta last year, came down very hard in the group crash with about 6km to go yesterday. And though he was able to remount and continue in the race, it took him a long time to get going again

When he arrived at the finish, he was filmed getting into a team car holding his arm in a manner that suggested he may have a serious issue.
