Video: Junior winner of E3 BinckBank splits opinion with celebration

To
be fair to Tobias Lund Andresen, he put in an absolutely terrific ride to win
the E3 BinckBank Junior Classic at the weekend.

The
16-year-old Dane rode solo for 50km and won the race over one minute ahead of
the next man home.

Britain’s
Leo Hayter took 2nd place by winning the sprint from a three-man
group some 1:04 after the winner.

But
while Lund Andresen’s ride was eye-catching, he may need to revisit his victory
celebration.

No
doubt he was delighted to win so well and everyone likes a bit of youthful exuberance.

But
laying down in the road, taking a break, just before crossing the line has led
to charges he behaved arrogantly.

Lund
Andresen swerved from side to side of the finishing straight before getting off
his bike just short of the line.

However, while it looked like he was about to carry his bike across the line, which has become more common in cycling, he lay in the road first.

He seemed to be emphasising how far ahead of the others he was. But it appears to have soured what was an otherwise great day out for him.
