Dunbar and Carapaz set for first test as climbs begin at Tour de Pologne

Eddie Dunbar should enjoy tomorrow's stage at the Tour de Pologne, with frequency short climbs to soften up the field

Eddie Dunbar has come through an eventful and dramatic opening phase at the Tour de Pologne, with the climbing now set to begin.

Tomorrow's stage 3 and the stage 4 on Saturday both feature a series of short sharp climbs that can suit Dunbar if they are ridden aggressively and if he gets a chance to target a result of his own with Richard Carapaz in the same Team Ineos line-up.

There are seven categorised climbs in total tomorrow and three small ascents on the finishing circuit before the uphill finish.

Remco Evenepoel (Deceuninck-QuickStep) is the form rider having won the three stage races he has ridden this year, including last week's Vuelta a Burgos.

The 20-year-old Belgian will be gunning for success after the horror crash that befell his team mate Fabio Jakobsen on the opening stage.

Carapaz is also one of the favourites and, like Dunbar, he may go better this week in Poland than he did in Spain last week now that he has some racing in his legs.

Going into the stage; the first two stages ended in bunch sprints meaning the only time relinquished by the favourites was to the sprinters by way of time bonuses.

Today world champion Mads Pedersen (Trek-Segafredo) put in a long and powerful sprint to win the stage and take the yellow jersey, though the climbers will assert themselves over the next two days.
