Dublin’s Grand Canal Greenway has been awarded funding for an additional 4km stretch, from 12th Lock to Hazelhatch Bridge.

The project will cost €2.1 million in total, with
€700,000 provided by South Dublin County Council and €1.4 million provided by
the Department of Transport.

That €1.4 million round of funding comes from the
Department’s Greenway Programme which is worth €63.5 million this year.

Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan TD said the money from
his department was being allocated to the council, adding the extra 4km of
greenway would be completed within the next 18 months.
