The Dublin and Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team have carried out two call-outs to rescue cyclists, including one who suffered a fractured arm, during a crash in a wooded area.
The organisation, which conducts rescues mainly across the Dublin and Wicklow mountains usually involving walkers or hikers, received a call last Saturday morning from gardaí alerting them to a cyclist in difficulty.
“At 11:22am Dublin and Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team and Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue were tasked by An Garda Síochána after a report of a male mountain biker who came off his bike on the upper black route at Ballinastoe Woods,” Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team said.
“The male in his 40s who had sustained a suspected arm fracture was brought down to a waiting ambulance by mountain rescue response Vehicle. While this incident was being stood down, at 12:09pm, the on-scene personnel were tasked to assist in another incident involving another mountain biker which was stood down by 1:13pm.
The second incident involved another mountain biker who was in difficulty in Roundwood, Co Wicklow, and needed rescue team assistance.
