A Dublin sportive cyclist, who had raised large sums of money for charity, has appealed for information after a robbery at his home resulted in the theft of two of his bikes, valued at up to €9,000.
He said while he woke up last Sunday and went to get his bike to go training, his shed had been broken into and both bikes were gone. While many stolen bikes are never returned to their owners, he is hopeful his appeal might drum up some information about where his bikes are now.
Winston Dillon's e-mountain bike and road bike were taken from his shed in the Kilmore area near Coolock in the time between Saturday night and Sunday morning. He woke on Sunday, planning to go for a cycle, to find the lock on the shed broken and the bikes gone.
His black, grey and blue Giant racing bike and his cream Cube e-MTB were stolen from his shed - at his home in Kilmore, north Dublin - overnight into last Sunday morning.
Dillon told Dublin Lives he was urging anyone who had information to get in touch with him via social media, including through his Instagram account.
"I woke up to go for a cycle Sunday morning and I went to the shed. The lock was off it - went into the shed and the two bikes were gone," he said.
"One was an e-mountain bike and the other was a road bike. They're valued at around eight or nine thousand euro. I've gone on a lot of charity cycles on the bikes up and down the country - raised thousands for charities."
