When it was under construction the new cycle lane set-up around the Lombard St area in Dublin's south inner city looked great.
But now that it's open a few very obvious and serious problems have emerged.
There are cycling lanes on both sides of the road that are segregate from traffic; a good start.
Those lanes, who segregated from traffic by a line of parking, start on City Quay and take cyclists up Lombard St East.
However, as the video below shows when cyclists get as far as the junction of Lombard St East and Townsend St - to turn left onto Townsend St - things come unstuck.
The cycling lane twists approaching the turn due to a small traffic island it its path. And while the lane takes cyclists straight on through the junction, cars can turn left.
There's no yield sign for the cyclists or drivers - it's every man and woman for themselves which inevitable means drivers are turning left across the path of cyclists going straight.
It looks like a crash waiting to happen. Let's hope Dublin City Council sees this one and makes some changes.
