A determined dog caused chaos at a pro cyclocross race in Belgium yesterday when it lunged at several rides, including world champion Mathieu van der Poel.
A number of race officials tried to grab the dog as it ran through the start-finish area, but to no avail.
Luckily none of the riders was injured though at least one was forced to a stop when the dog seemed to make a concerted bid for his ankles.
It had somehow gotten away from its owner and ran into the riders at the end of the first lap at Vlaamse Druivencross in Overisje yesterday.
Van der Poel went on to win the race in the colours of Coredon-Circus.
British young gun Tom Pidcock of Trinity Racing showed that he's finding his feet at elite pro level by taking 2nd place, just 14 seconds off the winner.
Quinten Hermans (Telenet Baloise Lions) rounded out the podium, some 27 seconds down on van der Poel.
