Dillon Corkery (St Michel-Preference Home-Auber 93) was today, Tuesday, set to begin his tenure with World Tour outfit, Team Picnic PostNL. Unfortunately, he has been forced to miss his first race.

The Corkman was set to line out at the PostNord Tour of Denmark (2.Pro) but has picked up some illness and, as a result, was unable to start the five-stage race.

However, Corkery will appear for Team Picnic PostNL in coming weeks, while also racing for St Michel-Preference Home-Auber 93; switching between the two teams for the remainder of the season.

He will then move permanently to Team Picnic PostNL, going on their winter training camps, before commencing his two-year contract with them at the start of 2026.

"I was looking forward to my first race with Team Picnic PostNL in the 2025 Tour of Denmark," Corkery said in a short message on social media. "Unfortunately, picked up a bug, and the team doctor has ruled me out.

"Thanks everyone for the messages of support and encouragement you've sent in. Really appreciate it. Good luck to the rest of the lads on the team over the five days. We'll rest up and go again soon."

It is a shame Corkery was not available for the race in Denmark as the team's Dutch sprinter, Fabio Jakobsen, is back in action for the first time since March. He has undergone surgery in the iliac artery in both of his legs to correct blood flow, thus power, limitation.

Corkery is expected to team up with Jakobsen, as part of his lead-out, next season and Denmark would have offered an early opportunity to start mixing with him and the other riders.

However, the Irishman should still get that chance in the weeks ahead once he recovers from what sounds like a minor illness set-back.
