Tom Dumoulin and Wout van Aert did their best to console Primož Roglič at the top of La Planche des Belles Filles today after he suffered a poor TT and lost the Tour de France yellow jersey.
Tadej Pogačar (UAE-Team Emirates), who was 2nd overall this morning some 57 seconds behind yellow jersey Roglič, pulled a ride for the ages out of the bag in the stage 20 test today.
Pogačar won the TT, his third stage victory of this Tour, by 1:21 from Tom Dumoulin (Jumbo Visma) and Richie Porte (Trek-Segafredo), both of whom finished on the same time.
Wout van Aert (Jumbo Visma) was 4th at 1:31 and then came his team mate, and race leader this morning, Roglič, in 5th place some 1:56 down on Pogačar.
Roglič looked shattered both on the bike during the stage and after it, though he immediately went to embrace and congratulate Pogačar before sitting on the tarmac looking stunned, surrounded by his team mates and other team personnel.
