There's a new name in the Team GB line-up for the World Road Championships and it's a well known Irish one; that of reigning women's world champion and recently married Lizzie Deignan (Photo: Sirotti)
Recently married to Irish climbing ace Philip Deignan of Team Sky, Lizzie Armistead has wasted no time with changing her name.
She has been presented as leader of the Great Britain women’s team for the World Road Championships next month as Lizzie Deignan.
Cycling fans were doing a double take yesterday when the name Deignan was linked to Team GB team but they will have plenty of time to get used to it!
Deignan leads a strong line-up that also includes Alice and Hannah Barnes, Dani King, Laura Massey, Annasley Park, Abby-Mae Parkinson and Eileen Roe; the latter one of the stars of An Post Rás na mBan earlier this month.
Hannah Barnes and Hayley Simmonds will ride the women’s TT in Doha.
