One of the most established and successful teams on the Irish road scene, Team Dan Morrissey Pactimo, has added three top riders to its roster for the 2023 season, when it will look to target the biggest races on the calendar.

However, the squad’s line-up is still taking shape for next year and it is seeking expressions of interest from riders who are interested in becoming members. Any new rider must be at a level that can add to the team’s goals or who feels they can progress to that standard, with U23, elite and masters riders welcome to apply.

“The team's main goals for next year will be the Rás Tailteann, Rás Mumhan, the Tour of Ulster, the nationals and the main one-day races such as the Des Hanlon and the Shay Elliott,” said team rider and management member Greg Swinand.

“We’re looking forward to a season of ‘back to normal’ and results building on past successes. We’re interest in riders who can either currently perform at the level needed to help achieve results for the main races we’re targeting but also young riders who could potentially develop to this level in the next few years.”

Swinand added the team was also potentially interested in masters riders who were looking to compete at both national and international level. Furthermore, it was open to hearing from people interested in helping out with team duties at major races. There are no club fees involved and the team is a Cycling Ireland club registered in Munster.

While the door is open to those interested in racing in Dan Morrisey Pactimo colours next year, the selection of riders it has already put together is impressive.

Conal Scully, who raced with Carlow Road Cycling Club at home and with Isorex Cycling Team in Europe this year, has signed up. The 18-year-old, who represented Ireland as a junior at the Worlds and Europeans, won the junior TT title this year and will be a great addition to Team Dan Morrissey Pactimo in 2023.

Another very strong rider joining the team is Liam Curley, who rode for Technological University Dublin at home and EvoPro Racing in Europe this year. He is one of the best elite riders in the country and has represented Ireland many times at U23 level. Now aged 22 years, he can win the biggest races on the home scene next season.

Like Curley, Mitchell McLaughlin also rode for EvoPro Racing this year and is destined for Team Dan Morrissey Pactimo in 2023. McLaughlin, now aged 24 years, claimed a bronze medal in the U23 TT in the National Road Championships two years ago and was a stage winner at Rás Mhaigh Eo this year. Having gained invaluable experience with EvoPro Racing this season, he will look to harness that in 2023 and turn it into more victories.

Many of the team’s established riders – all proven winners of major race – are returning for next season. They include: Matteo Cigala, Swinand, Ronan McLaughlin, Conor Hennebry, Adam Stenson and Sean McKenna.

The team will be managed by Mark O'Callahan, Swinand, and Keith Gallagher with special advisory roles for Sean Lacey and Frank Campbell.  Timmy Barry, the former international rider at the centre of the team for many years, continues as president while John Horgan takes on the treasurer role and Swinand will be club secretary.

The team will again be supported in 2023 by Dan Morrissey Quarry Group as title sponsor and with Pactimo, the cycling and triathlon clothing apparel company, as another backer.

Any riders who want to express their interest in joining the team for next year should send a CV of their results, and stating their goals and how they would fit into the set-up, to [email protected].
