Dan Martin to lead open Zwift ride to ship protective masks to medics

Dan Martin on the turbo. You may not be able to match his power, but you can at least join him on Zwift tomorrow, Sunday

Irish cyclists feeling hemmed in by the lock-down imposed in the Republic last night can busy themselves tomorrow by joining Dan Martin on a Zwift ride.

The Israel Start-Up Nation rider's team is inviting riders all over the world to join the ride. And the team co-owner will then ship protective face masks to medics on the frontline fighting Covid19.

The idea is that the protective gear is effectively distributed to medics in the name of everyone who takes part in the virtual ride in Zwift.

Dr Kevin Ham, who co-owns the team and is a Canadian entrepreneur has already secured a large consignment of masks in China and will distribute them in the coming days.

“The situation we find ourselves in is truly unprecedented, but it has also led to shows of the incredible human spirit “ said Dan Martin.
