Dan Martin to end season at Lombardy, no Italian classic for Eddie Dunbar

Dan Martin calls time on 2019 and on his tenure with UAE Team Emirates tomorrow in Italy

Dan Martin will end his season and his two-year tenure with UAE Team Emirates at Il Lombardia in Italy tomorrow.

However,
there is no classic of the falling leaves for young Irish Team Ineos rider
Eddie Dunbar.

He
started Gran Piemonte on Thursday but then abandoned the race due to illness.
And he is not named in the Team Ineos line-up for tomorrow.

Martin
(33) goes into the race as an outside favourite, but a rider who has gained
form and momentum over the past week.

He
was 5th in Gran Piemonte after being one of only six riders who
could hold eventual winner Egan Bernal on the final climb to the finish line.

Martin will be up against it tomorrow against Bernal (Team Ineos) and Primoz Roglic (Jumbo Visma); the latter having won both Giro dell'Emilia (1.HC) and Tre Valli Varesine (1.HC) in the past week.

In
the absence of Eddie Dunbar from the Team Ineos line-up, the British WorldTour
outfit’s selection for the race is still a very strong one.

It
features Gianni Moscon, Bernal, Ivan Sosa, Diego Rosa, Jonathan Castroviejo,
Tao Geoghegan Hart and Salvatore Puccio.

Bernal is one of the hot favourites going into the race after his win at Thursday’s Gran Piemonte.

And with such a strong team around him he has a fantastic change of taking a rare monument win for Team Ineos.
