Dan Martin is to appear at a public interview and questions and answers session in Dublin on Thursday night as part of his work with the Cycle4Life charity.

The Garmin-Sharp pro, who has just taken two second places on a stage of the Tour of Beijing and at the Japan Cup, will be appearing in the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Blanchardstown, west Dublin.

The event is free and all are welcome to attend, though space is limited to 350 people. The evening will start with a meet and greet session at 7pm.

Martin has leant his profile to the Cycle4Life charity over the past year or so and as part of that commitment he will this week visit Temple St Children’s Hospital in Dublin to meet some of the children there and review the equipment the charity’s fundraising efforts have secured for the hospital.

Following a pre-Rás fundraising ride back in May, the charity managed to buy €126,000 of medical equipment for the hospital. It is backed by DID Electrical and many cycling fans will know two of the men involved; company managing director Darragh Lynch and his brother Cian Lynch.

The latter has become a regular master of ceremonies at cycling events in recent years and will again do the honours on Thursday night. He’ll interview Martin on stage and will then direct questions from the floor to the star of the night.

The Lynch brothers tell us that Martin will sign autographs and there will also be photo opportunities with him so it sounds like one for cycling fans everywhere. With Blanchardstown just off the M50, the event is very accessible from most parts of the country.

Martin will on Friday visit Temple St Hospital where he will meet staff in the intensive care unit and also St Gabriel’s ward for neurosurgery.
