
Dan Martin is getting ready for his
first stage race since the Tour de France as he takes on the Deutschland Tour
in Germany.
The Irish cyclist will start the
four-stage race tomorrow when the event gets underway with a relatively flat
167km stage from Hannover to Halberstadt.
Friday’s stage 2 takes the riders 202km
from Marburg
to Göttingen, featuring two small climbs close to the finish.
The third stage of the race, some 189km from Göttingen to Eisenach,
with three small categorised climbs.
The final stage on Thursday takes the riders some 159.5km from Eisenach
to Erfurt and while the climbs are modest the terrain is up and down all day.
There are also two small climbs to be negotiated late in the same on
the finishing circuit.
Dan Martin goes into the race having only competed at Clásica Ciclista San Sebastián, where he was 32nd, since the Tour.
The race in Germany, which is a
WorldTour event, is also his first outing since confirmation of his departure from
UAE Team Emirates at the end the seaon for Israel Cycling Academy.
