Fresh from their stage wins in the Vuelta and Tour of Beijing, Dan Martin and cousin Nicolas Roche are set for a number of public appearances in Ireland when the season ends after next weekend’s Tour of Lombardy.
Roche was to have been in Dublin last week to promote his book ‘Inside the Peloton’ - written with journalist Gerard Cromwell.
However, his team insisted he travel to the Tour of Beijing to try and win some UCI ranking points that are badly needed to secure his Ag2r squad’s continued presence in cycling’s top flight next year.
Roche has now rescheduled those public appearances and will promote his book in Dublin on October 18th.
He is appearing on TV3’s Ireland AM programme that morning and is also expected to do a book signing, though the details have not yet been finalised.
The Tour of Beijing stage winner will also be conducting a round of interviews with print journalists when in Ireland to promote the book, so be sure to look out for those stories.
We’ll bring you more on Roche’s plans when we get them.
Dan Martin is coming to Ireland in the same week as Roche. He’s fresh from his stage win the Vuelta and sticklybottle wouldn’t be surprised if he does a big ride in the Tour of Lombardy.
Martin will be in Belfast on October 22nd as a guest of ChainReactionCycles. He’ll be appearing in the company’s new store in the city that day and will be leading a “ride out” in and around Belfast; sounds like one to bring any bike-mad kids along to.
Martin will also been doing a Q&A session in the new store after the ride out so if you want to hear him speaking about his fantastic year, you know where to go.
ChainReactionCycles tell us they’ll be doing some promos on the day. We’ll bring you those details when we get them.
