Dan Martin is the rider in bright green just at the top of the small group of men in difficulty following a crash on this tight and slippery right hander.
Dan Martin has taken a tumble as the Tour de France has reached the cobbles on today’s fourth stage.
Martin was among a group of four fallers on a tight corner just as rain had begun to fall with approximately 50kms remaining on the 223.5km trek from Seraing to Cambrai.
The peloton slowed right down to take the corner on narrow roads just after negotiating the first section of cobbles and with a couple of kilometres remaining to the second section of pavé.
An Astana rider was the first to fall just ahead of Martin.
Dylan van Baarle of Cannondale-Garmin was just behind the Astana man, with Martin on his wheel and coming off as the ripple of the crash came back through the group.
While van Baarle escaped the crash, Martin and another team mate came off and while Martin jumped up very quickly to get going again, he then had a problem with his bike.
It appeared his chain may have become tangled in his gears.
He eventually got going again with the help of his team but he was stopped on the road for much longer than he would have liked.
However, at the time of writing Martin and his team mates had done a great job to battle back into what remained of the peloton with four sections of cobbles still to negotiate.

The Astana rider goes down; with Dan Martin the second Cannondale-Garmin man just a few bike lengths behind and just about to fall himself.
