Cyclists asked to back campaign as planned Irish cycling project stalls

Kerry County Council said in July it was going ahead with the Tralee Urban Bike Park and that a site was being sought for the new cycling facility. While a site was found, it has now fallen though and the plans for the bike park have stalled

Plans for the Tralee Urban Bike Park have stalled after a
site for the facility fell through and now the cycling community is being asked
to lend their voice to calls to re-start the project.

Local community group Mountain Biking Kerry (MTBKY), the
driving force behind the project which was green lit during the summer, has now
set up a petition calling for Kerry County Council to redouble its efforts on
the stalled plans.

It has asked members of the public to add their names to the petition, which you can do by following this link.

“This will be an amazing facility for people to enjoy, get some exercise and to give people another reason to visit our town,” said Anluan Dunne of MTBKY.

Kerry County Council in July said it planned to proceed to the acquisition of a site to build the new park.

It added once a site had been finalised funding would be put in place to make the park a reality, though the identified site has now fallen through.

The new bike park would have three main features: a pump track for riders of all abilities; a short circuit gravel track for MTB riders; a ‘learn to pedal’ section, with mock streetscape, for young kids learning how to ride a bike.

The proposal was put forward last year by MTBKY which said it should be located in Tralee.
