A cyclist has been shot dead on a morning training ride in Miami after an altercation with a motorcyclist escalated quickly.
Reports in the US say the motorcyclist was known to the cyclists and often tagged along on their rides, recording them and clearing their way in traffic.
During the incident on Wednesday morning, a large group of cyclists were out for a ride when the motorcyclist caught up with them while live streaming on Facebook.
A video of the incident - which shows the initial altercation but not the shooting - has been published in the US.
It shows the motorcyclist pulling up alongside the large group of cyclists and calling out to them.
One of the riders appears to challenge the man on the motorbike, with the duo swerving on the road.
The motorcyclist and some of the cyclists then appear to stop, when the altercation escalated and the man on the motorbike allegedly shot one of the cyclists.
Some video, recorded from a car some distance behind the altercation between the stopped group, shows the shooting.
The deceased cyclist has been named in local reports as Alexis Palencia, aged 48 years, and the motorcyclist as a 41-year-old.
“There was a group of cyclists riding as they do every morning, and there was a motorcyclist that was actually riding in the same direction,” Miami Police Commander Freddie Cruz said.
“There was an exchange of words, and somewhere during that exchange of words, shortly after, there was a gunshot fired, and there was an individual that was shot.”
The fatal shooting occurred at Rickenbacker Causeway, with the suspect in the case now in police custody.
Reports in the US have quoted police sources saying the motorcyclist and the cyclist who was shot dead knew each other and had been in dispute for some time.
