
A cyclist has been hospitalised with serious injuries after a crash involving a driver in a truck in Dublin. The crash, which resulted in a significant emergency services response, occurred in the south inner city this morning, Wednesday.
A Garda investigation has been launched and gardaí are appealing to any witnesses, or anyone in the area who may have video footage, to contact them immediately.
"Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene following report of a two-vehicle road traffic collision involving a truck and a bicycle, at Con Colbert Road, Kilmainham, Dublin 8 this morning, Wednesday August 27th," Garda HQ said in a statement.
"The collision occurred shortly after 11am. The male cyclist - aged in his 40’s - was conveyed to St James’s Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The road was closed, and has since reopened. Investigations are ongoing."
Gardaí added any road users who may have camera footage - including dash-cam - and were travelling in the area of Con Colbert Road, Kilmainham, Dublin 8, between 10.15am and 11.15am on Wednesday should make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
