In happier times: Irish cyclist Philip Corr very sadly died last Saturday afternoon as he headed for home having turned off from his club spin.
The wife of cyclist Philip Corr has led tributes to him
following the death of the 41-year-old out cycling at the weekend.
Kelly Corr said a light had gone out in her life and she did not know what she would do without him.
“Today a light went out,” she said. “I can't breathe with
the pain.
"He was my everything... everything I could possibly
have dreamed and so much more.
"Philip Corr please walk through the door I don't
know how to do all this without you."
Philip was out cycling on Saturday morning with his
Titanic Quarter Cycling Club; a club he had helped set up.

He had turned off on his own and was headed for the direction of home in Belfast when he died.

It has now emerged he was found in a collapsed state on
the side of Ballynahinch Road in Dromara just after 1pm.
The emergency services were called and rushed to the
scene. Sadly the efforts of paramedics were not enough to save the father of
four.
Philip was a project manager on the Titanic Quarter in
Belfast. He had established the cycling club with the same name as a legacy to
the Giro’s visit to Belfast.
And he had also worked behind the scenes in helping to
organise the Giro’s start in Belfast five years ago.
A close friend of Philip Corr, Alex McGreevy, told The Belfast Telegraph everybody was “just devastated and really shocked” at his sudden death.
"Philip was always so active and on the go and
people in the cycling community can't believe it,” he said.
"On Wednesday he was bantering with me about being a
fair weather cyclist. This is the last person you would ever think this would
happen to.”
Philip had been due to travel to Mallorca for some
cycling with his club in the weeks ahead. And he was also planning to ride the
Mind Your Mood sportive.
He had set up a fundraising page for that with a target of £250. Since his tragic death that sum has been exceeded 20-fold, according to the donation page.
A death notice said he was a loving husband of Kelly, and a devoted father to Nathan, James, Bradley and Sophia.
His funeral service will take place tomorrow, Thursday,
at 2.30pm at St Colmcille's Parish East Belfast followed by a committal at
Roselawn Crematorium at 4.30pm.
