The cycling death toll is now mounting on the roads of the Republic in 2018 and is sadly on course for another bad year after the increased deaths in 2017.

A cyclist has died from injuries he sustained after he was involved in a crash with a truck in south Dublin.

The 19-year-old had initially survived the collision and was taken from the scene to hospital. However, he died in hospital last night.

A Garda investigation has begun and anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact gardai in Donnybrook, south Dublin.

Gardai issued a statement confirming some of the details of the fatal incident.
